![]() You can’t go to Paris without snapping photos of the Eiffel Tower, period. There are several places to do this depending on the view and angle you want. This trip for a little photoshoot we went to the Trocadero which is a big open space across the river from the Eiffel Tower. You may remember my photos here from the fall where we were at Bir Hakeim. Such a different look and feel, right? And if you’re looking for those stairs that people often shoot on with the Eiffel Tower in the background? That’s at the Trocadero also, but instead of going down to the right, you go to the left. Will have to do that on my next visit. ![]() How To Get Great Photos At The Eiffel TowerGet Up Early! If you ever wondered what it’s like to be a crazy blogger on a trip like this, we got up at 5:30am, to get to the Trocadero by 6:30 to meet our photographer. This place was already filling up with photographers and their clients. It’s the best time to shoot. Really any major tourist spot is best to shoot this early. It was fun to see everyone in their wedding dress, gowns, even a ballerina was there. It’s also one of my favorite things to do while I travle. It’s so peaceful and calm so early and you get to see a city in a different way. Hire A PhotographerNot everyone may be into this idea, but I really think if you’re going to want forever photos at the Eiffel Tower, it’s worth hiring a professional. I personally have worked with Katie Donnelly and also Federico of I Heart Paris. ![]() Bring A Change Of ClothesThis is definitely a blogger move, but also a great idea. And most professional photographers will recommend this. Why? Well, what are you going to do with two dozen photos of you in the same outfit? It’s nice to have some variety. Bring a casual outfit and a nicer one to mix it up! And try to style yourself in something a bit more classic that will be timeless. Think little black dresses, your go-to casual outfit (for me that would be jeans, stripe tee and Converse). Different AnglesThere are a few great spots to get great Eiffel Tower photos. You can head to the Trocadero where the above photos were all taken. But there are several great locations around the Eiffel Tower to take breathtaking photos to capture that Parisian vibe. ![]() ![]() Where To Shoot At The Eiffel TowerYou don’t have to go to the Trocadero to get photos of the Eiffel Tower. In fact, I recommend only doing that if you plan on going super early to avoid the crowds. There are plenty of other great locations to capture the Eiffel Tower and all her beauty. Having a few different vantage points will make your photos pop! Plus, sharing some outfits to wear for when you’re shooting at the Eiffel Tower. I love to embrace the Parisienne aesthetic and go for stripes and simple silhouettes. For even more Paris-style ideas, check out my French capsule wardrobe here. Pont de Bir-HakeimThis is a bridge that you can take the most incredible photos of. The views are stunning. On this bridge you can also take a photo of these pillars like you can see here. Another spot you can visit from here is on the water. Along the Seine you can walk and get some photos of the water AND the Eiffel Tower. There are steps to access the pathway from the bridge easily. That’s where these photos were taken, but we just chose to not have the Eiffel Tower in them. The Champ De MarThis is simply the park where the Eiffel Tower is. It’s a super long park that fills up every day with people. Especially at night to watch the Eiffel Tower light up. You can get more up close and personal shots with the Eiffel Tower here. Shoot at a few different angles and move closer and farther from it to get different vantage points. There are also some really cut homes to the right when in the park and looking at the Eiffel Tower for more cute photo opps. TrocaderoThe most popular spot for sure, Trocadero is opposite the park and the Eiffel Tower. Take an Uber or Taxi to get here. Once you’re here, you’ll see there are steps to go down to the left or the right when you’re facing the Eiffel Tower. To the left are these steps which are super popular for photos (I’ve yet to take photos here!). But if you go down to the right, you end up on a pretty walkway lined with trees and the Eiffel Tower behind you. Below is the vantage point if you go down the steps to the right. A sweet little story from this morning…While waiting for Lauren to finish up snapping her photos, I noticed a man I thought I recognized. As he walked closer, I realized it was Federico who I shot with on my last visit. I follow him on Instagram obviously (he’s hands down one of my favorite Instagram accounts to follow) and know he’s here almost every morning for a shoot. I ran over to him and gave him a big hug (should’ve done the more culturally appropriate kiss on each cheek, but oh well), congratulated him on his new baby that his wife had 4 days prior. Quickly I realized this world is incredibly small within seconds of seeing him. His client was a couple from the states who were there celebrating their anniversary. It turned out the woman was a blog follower. The world is beyond tiny which is always a nice reminder to be kind if you ask me. That moment made me so thankful to be able to do what I do and travel the world. I get to meet these incredible photographers, see amazing sights and get to stay in touch with everyone all through social media. There are times when there are too many options and I can’t decide. I then get decision paralysis. But this time, I had no problem whatsoever making a decision. I’ve been on the hunt for clogs ever since this post. As someone who loves a 70s vibe, clogs are something I’ve kind of always liked, but never really embraced. But clearly, this year, clogs are in! While browsing for clogs when writing that fun post a few weeks ago, I stumbled onto these Veronica Beard ones. I’ve seen a few fellow bloggers whose style I admire wear the brand but I’ve never personally tried it. Or even really visited the website to be honest. But thanks to my clog browsing, I found myself deep into the Veronica Beard website. And loving everything. It’s this perfect mix of classic pieces that feel elevated with a touch of coolness. Pieces that very clearly will last years in your closet. Veronica Beard ClogsI can’t speak to the clothing. While I would love to buy all the things, her price point is a bit high for me. I ended up splurging on these clogs thanks to a gift card that helped! As soon as I got them in, I knew exactly why she has the price point she does. They are beautiful, so comfortable and I’m going to have them for years! I went with my usual size and think I could have also gone up half a size. So runs pretty true to size? Sure. These are the Dacey clogs and they come in a few colors. From this pecan color that I have that’s the perfect tan, to black, military green and even these cool sherpa ones. They also have the Delia clog which is more like a loafer and has a cut braided leather detail. Both styles have a 4-inch heel. ![]() Shop The LookWhen I first got my clogs I was trying to come up with ways on how to style them. Sure they’re perfect with wide leg flared denim. But I initially tried them with these kick crop jeans from LOFT and that’s what sold me. I knew there were more ways to style them. I created this Reel on Instagram with a few outfits. And the most popular one was this one with white wide crop pants and a sweater. The perfect fall combo. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Shop The PostEverlane Crop Pants • Everlane Sweater (similar) • Veronica Beard Dacey Clogs • Bag (similar) • Essie Nail Polish in Rocky RoseThe Veronica Beard Clogs I Had To Have published first on https://lenacharms.weebly.com/ via Tumblr The Veronica Beard Clogs I Had To Have ![]() I’m writing this partially because it was highly requested by readers. But also because it’s time for me to start making more of an effort on this topic as well. I found myself in a group chat the other day of everyone talking about their kids. Or pregnancy. Or getting pregnant. All these big life moments that I can’t relate to. While I’m thrilled my friends are having the absolute cutest children on the planet, and I am very excited about being fun Auntie Jessi, it was a reality check that I no longer have any single friends. You may remember this post from last year on a big friendship breakup I recently experienced. Since this happened at the beginning of the pandemic, I haven’t really made much of an effort to make new friends. Instead, I sort of held on tight to everyone close to me because I realized how precious time was thanks to COVID-19. But now that life is getting a little back to normal, I noticed my social circle has drastically changed. It’s time to expand my social circle a bit and make an effort to make some new friends. Which is always a challenge as an adult. I feel like I’m at a point where I have to truly put in the work. I’m no longer in an office setting, I’m not attending any gym classes, and my single friends are all married. It’s time to get back to the things that I know help to foster friendships. How To Make Friends As An AdultBuilding friendships as an adult is not as easy as it was back in the day when we were kids. Or even fresh out of college. We’re in a different season of life and living in our little routines and bubbles. Without getting off the hamster wheel of your day-to-day life and habits, you won’t change things up in your life. This goes for a lot of things, too. But making new friends can be super gratifying and great for your mental health. But it may require you to get out of your comfort zone and take some effort. Friendships take time to build and they don’t happen over lunch or coffee. Sure that’s a good way to start it. But meaningful friendships blossom through shared experiences. Whether they’re funny or sad, it’s those unique experiences that bond people, create memories and build friendships. So whether you’ve moved to a new city, or are in a new season of life, or just want to expand your social circle, this post is for you! Connect With Your NeighborsSaying a quick hello to a neighbor is well, neighborly. But maybe go above and beyond and invite them over for a happy hour, or brunch. If you both have pets, maybe ask to go for a walk or visit a dog park together. This is a really easy way to ease into a social setting. And if all of this overwhelms you, just invite them over next time you’re hosting something. I used to love to host brunches at my house for girlfriends. It’s the perfect way to invite a neighbor over that doesn’t feel like too much pressure since there’s a group of people around to support you. Start A New SportThis is one I’m leaning into and it’s not only great for getting in some physical activity but good for meeting new people. Whether you join a more fun and social sport like a kickball league, or bowling league, or try something a bit more serious like tennis or something, these activities can get you in front of new people to connect with. I feel like a sport helps to alleviate some social anxiety because you have an activity to focus on versus having to be forced to hold a conversation. It’s a really natural way to connect with people! And if you can’t think of a new sport to try, think about what you did as a kid that you loved. I was a figure skater and also tried my hand at tennis. Revisiting old childhood favorites can be a fun way to explore some ideas! Head To The Dog ParkPeople with dogs have the easiest time meeting other people with dogs. Head to a dog park and the options are endless. But you have to make some effort. If you’re connecting with people at the dog park, ask for their number so you can schedule the next time you all go. This builds some trust and a connection. Once you feel more comfortable, ask to grab coffee afterward or a meal with a dog-friendly patio. Ask Your Friends For HelpDon’t be afraid to ask your existing friends for help. It may make you feel vulnerable to ask, but you likely trust your friends and they have your best interest in mind. Don’t be afraid to say “hey, I’d love to meet that friend of yours you keep talking about, she sounds great” and offer to schedule an activity together. This isn’t weird! And nothing will change if you don’t step outside that comfort zone that may feel icky! Start A Book ClubWhether you start one or ask a friend to join theirs, a book club is a great way to meet new people. It also gets you reading which is a nice little plus! Book clubs are fun little social gatherings with no pressure at all. The Thing To Keep In MindGoing back to shared experiences, the thing to keep in mind with meeting new people and making friends is to make that effort. You may have people in your life already who are just casual friends or acquaintances, and those people can become good friends. It just takes the effort to make plans and have shared experiences. This is why joining a gym like CrossFit or a league sport like kickball are ideal for making new friends. You are having shared experiences with people. It’s just easier. More effortless. So while you may want to connect with your neighbor over coffee. Try also asking them to go for a hike, or visit the local farmer’s market. These little activities are what truly build meaningful good friendships over time. And more quickly too! You start to build memories and inside jokes and that’s what friendships are all about. I remember in high school browsing and dreaming of being able to afford the brands. Over the years though, they’ve expanded their designer offering and now have quite a few affordable brands to shop. They even carry Madewell! I love shopping at Shopbop because they offer free fast shipping and easy free returns. And I feel like they have brands that you just don’t see on other sites as much. With so many designers to sift through, and a REALLY big price range that seems like well I can’t afford this site, today’s post is for you. Shopbop also does a few really good sales a year. And they’re usually buy more save more events. And one is happening right now. Here are some of my favorite brands to shop at Shopbop that are more affordable than their homepage will make you think! I’d say most of these brands have pieces under $200. Favorite Affordable Shopbop Brands![]() MadewellYou know I love my Madewell. But with their buy more save more sales, sometimes it’s smart to buy through Shopbop. Madewell only does their Insider sale a few times a year and if you missed something, Shopbop is where I’d pick it up when they’re doing a sale! If you need sizing tips, check out my Madewell denim guide here. ![]() Pistola DenimI’ve come to really love Pistola Denim and am now the owner of their jumpsuits, denim and sweaters. They’re really great quality and good fits too. This brand runs true to size. I take my usual denim size and top size. ![]() Anine BingA bit more of a splurge, but worth it. I love Anine Bing for her cool edgy girl style. From graphic tees to hoodies, and even great closet essentials from sweaters to boots. The tees and hoodies are within my budget. How I’d love to own a blazer or two! ![]() WAYFAnother affordable and trendy brand that I love, WAYF. Their prices are almost always at or around $100. I have several items from this brand and would say it runs similar to ASTR The Label and to size up if in-between sizes. ![]() Z SupplyThis is a new to me brand that I can’t believe I wasn’t wearing longer. It’s the ultimate lounge brand with great basics like tees and sweaters too. I have a few of their lounge pieces that got me through the 2020 pandemic. And just picked up the most perfect white v-neck that is not see-through. It’s so good. A Few Other Affordable BrandsThere are SO many designers available to shop on Shopbop and one thing I do is favorite my designers. You can then go in and just shop for those designers. It makes a big difference when sifting through their massive product assortment and even wider price range. You can’t filter by price on the website, but in their app, you can! So silly. But here are a few other notable brands to favorite and browse for cute pieces. Trendy BrandsFor cute and trendy clothing, I really love Moon River, En Saison, ASTR The Label, Lioness, BB Dakota and English Factory. The fit can be hit or miss on English Factory, but the rest are fairy true to size and consistent. All are great for trendy pieces. I check out all these brands any time I log onto Shopbop and definitely anytime I’m looking for a little something fun for an event or trip. Best HandbagsI mostly buy my bags from Shopbop and a few of my favorite brands are Bembien, Mar Y Sol for summer bags and Hat Attack. For a splurge, Cult Gaia has a good product assortment here too. Many aren’t super affordable, but I find they have a unique variety of bags and brands. Plus, they have an under $300 bag section and that’s usually where I browse! Workout GearMy favorite workout gear available at Shopbop is Girlfriend Collective. I love their bras and they’re super affordable. The Paloma is a favorite. They also carry Sweaty Betty, Alo Yoga and Splits59. Closet BasicsFor closet basics from denim to tees, DL1961, Levis and RAILS and Splendid are solid choices that don’t break the bank. They even have great bras and underwear from Calvin Klein to Natori. ShoesAnd for shoes, there’s a good range from sneakers like New Balance, Reebok, Madewell, Vejas and Converse, to heels like my beloved Castaner espadrilles. They also have Dr Martens, Sam Edelman and Steven by Steve Madden. And probably my most favorite and hard to find elsewhere are Schutz. I love anything they make! Splurge Worthy BrandsSometimes I like to maybe splurge a tad. And there are a few brands I like on Shopbop that I think are worth it! Veronica Beard, these clogs were a favorite. When her pieces are on sale, it’s worth it! If I had a disposable income, Ulla Johnson would be on repeat in my closet. Avec Les Filles for good coats. And for cute dresses, Xirena, Faithfull the brand and Farm Rio are all great brands to splurge on if you ask me! When Are The Shopbop SalesThe buy more save more events happen a few times a year. Right now the 2021 Shopbop Style Event is going on October 11- 14th. Pieces go fast, and some brands are excluded. You can get early access to the sale if you’re a member (free to join). My Favorite Brands To Shop At Shopbop published first on https://lenacharms.weebly.com/ via Tumblr My Favorite Brands To Shop At Shopbop ![]() Over the summer I bought my first ever pieces of Pistola. A star print utility jacket that was such a nice update from the usual one I’ve had for years. And a lilac utility romper. Both quickly became closet favorites and I was hooked on the brand ever since. Now that we’re into fall, I’m back with more Pistola pieces. And I’m here to tell you, I think I’m really hooked. Pistola Grover Field Suit ReviewI feel like one of their staple items from the Pistola Denim collection is the Grover Field Suit (or jumpsuit). It’s identical to the romper version in the summer, the Parker Field one. But it’s full length. Has the same snaps, buttons and even the adjustable buttons on the side (which I really like). It’s so good. Let me tell you why. FabricFor one, the fabric is insanely soft and comfortable. It’s a true utility jumpsuit and sometimes those can feel stiff and heavy. This Pistola Grover jumpsuit is 100% cotton and feels like heaven on. I love this khaki color too but it comes in several color ways and even a print! ![]() FitAs someone who has a long torso, jumpsuits, in general, can be tough. This one is not an issue for me at all. For reference, I’m 5’5″ and while I have a long-ish torso, it’s not absurdly long. But jumpsuits and rompers are hit or miss for me. And this one is a true hit! I love the length of the torso, and the buttons on the side allow me to adjust the waist to make it more fitted to my body. This helps to also keep it from sagging on your body and creates some shape. You can adjust them to make it more cinched or less. And for length, it’s simply perfect. I cuffed this twice to style it better and like where it hits on the leg. If you’ve got really long legs or are super tall, you can probably be just fine with not rolling them and it would be a good length. For sizing, I went with a small. I’m usually a size 27/4 and found this to be just roomy enough. My romper one is a medium and it’s just too big. I find that Pistola Denim runs pretty true to size, and if anything, a tad big. ![]() Shop The Pistola Grover Field SuitHow I Style My Pistola JumpsuitFor spring and summer, just pair these with Birkenstocks or even a platform espadrille. And for fall, I love this jumpsuit with all my chunky platform sneakers. Especially my Madewell Trainers. These ABLE sneakers styled here are a great option too (size up at least a full size). I also recently saw Zanna Rassi wearing this exact same jumpsuit but with a mid-calf combat boot. It was so good. I’d say any chunky combat boot or Dr Martens would be cute with this, just make sure the shaft is snug to the leg so it doesn’t look messy. ![]() Shop Today’s Look![]() ![]() ![]() Shop The PostPistola Jumpsuit • ABLE Sneakers • Quay SunglassesMy Love For The Pistola Grover Jumpsuit published first on https://lenacharms.weebly.com/ via Tumblr My Love For The Pistola Grover Jumpsuit ![]() My blazer collection currently is the biggest it’s been since my 9-5 corporate days. You’d think that since I don’t have to go into an office that I wouldn’t be buying more blazers than I care to admit. But this wardrobe staple has quickly become one of my favorite fashion items in my closet. They act as a third piece (my favorite styling tip) to pull outfits together. With so many different styles of blazers out now, there are so many ways to wear a blazer outside of your traditional office wear. Blazers are now edgy, also casual, cool and different. They can be worn with leggings and a hoodie to pull a look together. Or can be styled with a slip dress for date night. This closet staple goes beyond the cubicle and has transcended into street-style fashion. Here are all my best tips and outfit ideas on how to wear a blazer for any season and any occasion. How To Style A BlazerStyling A Blazer For Spring & SummerThinking about fabric first, choosing a blazer for spring and summer should be in a warm-weather approved fabric. Think of anything in linen or cotton that’s lightweight for your spring and summer blazer choices. You can even go with a print like floral or stripes which are seasonally appropriate. Pair your lightweight blazer with just denim shorts and a pretty tank for a cute and polished outfit. Or add it over a cotton tank dress to give your outfit some interest. Blazer Outfits For Warm WeatherNow that you have a lightweight summer blazer, pair it with light summer pieces. Shorts, light wash denim, florals and wedges. Add a woven bag like a straw bag or canvas tote for a casual and summery vibe. Styling A Blazer For Fall & WinterFor fall and winter, I rely on my blazers the most. They add a good layer for warmth and help to also transition outfits from summer to fall too. Choose blazers in fall and winter fabric as well as seasonal appropriate prints. I’m usually in some sort of a cool plaid blazer that can easily be paired with denim and cozy knits, or sweater dresses. To keep things feeling fashion-forward, try a boyfriend-style blazer that’s a bit oversized and feels less like you grabbed your 9-5 blazer. Plaid Blazer Outfits For Fall That Are Casual And Dressed UpSome of my most favorite looks from the blog have been blazers for fall. From classic black blazers styled with black jeans and booties, to adding them over dresses for a cool take on a floral mini. And of course, my go-to outfit, jeans, sneakers and a blazer. Just add in a thin sweater or graphic tee for a complete outfit. More Fall And Winter Outfit Ideas In A BlazerStyling A Blazer For Business CasualFor business casual, your blazer is your savior! Dress up jeans, skirts and even leggings with just a blazer. It’s the perfect trick to turn any outfit into the perfect business casual outfit. And if you still need to be in a suit, but don’t want to be matchy matchy, mixing and matching your suit pieces is a great way to dress them down a bit for a more business casual look. Business Casual Outfits With BlazersStyling A Blazer For An Edgy OutfitMy favorite way to style a blazer is to create an edgy outfit. Add a cool blazer over a slip dress and boots, or style with faux leather leggings and Dr Martens. I think a cool blazer can help transform a tee and jeans into an edgier outfit when done right. It’s all about the blazer style and also the shoe choice if you ask me. You can truly style a pair of leggings and a hoodie with a blazer and make it edgy by adding a cool sneaker or combat boot. I also find myself choosing this type of outfit for a date night or happy hour with friends. It feels cool and edgy but can also be dressed up and stylish. I’m all for a great sweatshirt. I mean clearly, this blog post was dedicated to sweatshirts. But this amour crew neck pullover is an elevated sweatshirt that I am obsessed with. And once it arrived, I fell in love instantly. It’s so insanely soft for one. And not super thick. I like a thin sweatshirt that I don’t feel bulky in. A few years ago I invested in a more high-quality designer leather jacket and am so thankful I did. For how much use I get out of it, it was worth every penny. If you’re a leather jacket kind of gal, I really do suggest investing in that perfect style that you will love for years to come. It’s a staple and versatile piece in my wardrobe that truly goes with so much. I’ve worn this one for years and throughout every season. From dressed-up looks, travel outfits, and everything in between. After a few years though, I noticed my OAK leather jacket was getting a very dry feeling to it. And in some parts, the arm would stick to the body. I was starting to worry it was getting old and going to just crack on me one day. I didn’t even realize that you should really be cleaning your leather jacket and caring for it a certain way. So I started to Google what to do and realized, it was time to condition my beloved leather jacket. Leather jackets should really be cared for to keep them in mint condition and to avoid and cracking, peeling or fading. Just a few maintenance steps can help keep your investment piece looking great for years to come. Taking care of your leather jacket can help extend the life of this closet staple. When you care for your leather jacket, it’ll look great for longer and hold up better over the years. ![]() How to Condition A Leather JacketClean Your Leather Jacket FirstBefore you begin conditioning, you may want to clean your jacket first. No this doesn’t mean bringing it to the dry cleaners or running it through the washing machine. Cleaning a leather jacket is just not that simple. They’re finicky and really are a pain to truly clean. All you need to do though is take a slightly damp cloth and wipe down any dust on your jacket. You also don’t want this to be super wet. Leather is porous, and you won’t want to get it soaking wet. Let your jacket air dry fully for 24 hours. If your jacket is heavily soiled, you may want to try a bit of dish soap with warm water and use a washcloth to clean. Do A Test PatchBefore you condition your whole jacket, you want to first do a test patch. This is usually pretty easy to do on the inside hem of the jacket. Or underneath the collar. You just want to ensure your conditioner isn’t staining your jacket or doing anything weird to it. Do a small test patch and let it sit for 24 hours. Start ConditioningAfter you have done a successful test patch, you can go ahead and start conditioning. This is really simple and all you need is a soft cloth and your leather conditioner. I used the Leather Honey Conditioner and a microfiber cloth. Dispense some of your leather conditioners onto the cloth and just wipe onto your jacket. Each leather conditioner should have its own instructions on the back of the bottle as well. When I was doing this, it felt like I was using a TON of product, but afterward realized, I barely made a dent in the bottle. RepeatOnce you’ve conditioned your leather jacket, you are good to go for about 6-12 months. Or after a period of time whenever you feel like your leather jacket needs a little hydration. Storing Your Leather JacketNow that your jacket is conditioned and you know how to care for it, it’s also important to store it properly. Keep it away from extreme heat or moisture. And it can be a good idea to hang it on a padded hanger. Remember, leather molds to the body, and also hangers. So avoid any sharp edges when hanging your jacket up for the season. Best Leather Jacket ConditionersLeather Honey ConditionerI had no idea where to start with leather conditioners to try and when I googled, this one came up the most. I decided to give it a try and can say, it works! It’s $20 and you can buy it on Amazon. I feel like this will last me years! TriNova Leather CleanerThis one has tons of great reviews on Amazon and also claims to be waterproof. Not sure if it works, but may be worth a try if you live in a more wet climate.
